Pitch your tent on the desk and camp on a ferry as it makes its way up the Inside Passage. Bring flipflops for the locker room showers, ear plugs, binoculars and patience. This is a cheap way to experience cruising, stripped to the bone. In a good way. Put this on the bucket list - Sean who answers the phone for the 800 number is extremely rude, doesn't help, doesn't answer questions. Its ridiculous to try to navigate the website because it tells you there is a 50% discount for transporting vehicles in the winter, but SEAN tells you there are no winter ferries, when you ask him when the ferries stop he doesn't give you a straight answer!!! Wish I could give it 10 stars. This is the best way to travel to see the inside passage. We went from Bellingham, Washington to Juneau, Alaska. What a beautiful trip. Our room was clean; very comfortable....best bed ever! Large window to look outside. The scenery was unbelievable. We saw whales, dolphins, bears, eagles.....just a fabulous trip. I would recommend it to everyone. The food in the cafeteria was good; and although we didn't eat in the fancier restaurant the menu looked good. We met some very interesting people from around the world. Very relaxed atmosphere. We also took the ferry from Juneau to Haines. Same experience....very comfortable, clean, and beautiful scenery. The ferry system used to be a great way to travel in the last couple of years it's gone to crap and it's no ones fault but the ferry's. Raising prices, getting rid of the bars and getting rid of more ships? Ridiculous! No wonder your losing customers Daily who the hell is in charge get your deal together! When you drive up, fist thing you notice is how big the ferry is. It is only one of two ferries that have a cruising speed of about 38 knots in alaska. if you want to see part of alaska that you can't see by vehicle this is the way to go.
